Confession of Sin

Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 119

⁽¹⁴⁵⁾ I cry out with my whole heart; Hear me, O LORD! I will keep Your statutes. ⁽¹⁴⁶⁾ I cry out to You; Save me, and I will keep Your testimonies. ⁽¹⁴⁷⁾ I rise before the dawning of the morning, And cry for help; I hope in Your word. ⁽¹⁴⁸⁾ My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word.

Micah Chapter 2

⁽¹⁾ Woe to those who devise iniquity, And work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, Because it is in the power of their hand. ⁽²⁾ They covet fields and take them by violence, Also houses, and seize them. So they oppress a man and his house, A man and his inheritance. ⁽³⁾ Therefore thus says the LORD: 'Behold, against this family I am devising disaster, From which you cannot remove your necks; Nor shall you walk haughtily, For this is an evil time. ⁽⁴⁾ In that day one shall take up a proverb against you, And lament with a bitter lamentation, saying: 'We are utterly destroyed! Acts Chapter 23

⁽²³⁾ And he called for two centurions, saying, 'Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night; ⁽²⁴⁾ and provide mounts to set Paul on, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.' ⁽²⁵⁾ He wrote a letter in the following manner: ⁽²⁶⁾ Claudius Lysias, to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.

⁽²⁷⁾ This man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them. Coming with the troops I rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. ⁽²⁸⁾ And when I wanted to know the reason they accused him, I brought him before their council. ⁽²⁹⁾ I found out that he was accused concerning questions of their law, but had nothing charged against him deserving of death or chains. ⁽³⁰⁾ And when it was told me that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him immediately to you, and also commanded his accusers to state before you the charges against him. Farewell.

Luke Chapter 7

⁽¹⁸⁾ Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things. ⁽¹⁹⁾ And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, 'Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?' ⁽²⁰⁾ When the men had come to Him, they said, 'John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, 'Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?' ' ⁽²¹⁾ And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.

⁽²²⁾ Jesus answered and said to them, 'Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. ⁽²³⁾ And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.' ⁽²⁴⁾ When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: 'What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? ⁽²⁵⁾ But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings' courts.

⁽²⁶⁾ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. ⁽²⁷⁾ This is he of whom it is written: 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.' ⁽²⁸⁾ For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.' ⁽²⁹⁾ And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

⁽³⁰⁾ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. ⁽³¹⁾ And the Lord said, 'To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like? ⁽³²⁾ They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: 'We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.' ⁽³³⁾ For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'

⁽³⁴⁾ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' ⁽³⁵⁾ But wisdom is justified by all her children.'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
