O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm
Psalm
4
Here me when I call, O God of my righteousness.
4 Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD.
Here me when I call, O God of my righteousness.
6 There are many who say, 'Who will show us any good?' LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. 7 You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
Here me when I call, O God of my righteousness.
*At the end of the Psalms this is sung or said Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Gospel
Luke 24:36-48
Deacon:The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you. Or And with your spirit
Deacon: May the Lord be on our minds, on our lips, and on our hearts as we hear His Holy Gospel. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke.
People: Glory to You, Lord Christ.
Deacon: We are reading from Luke's Gospel chapter 24, beginning at verse 36.
36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, 'Peace to you.' 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, 'Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.' 40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, 'Have you any food here?' 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence. 44 Then He said to them, 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.' 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46 Then He said to them, 'Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things.
After the Gospel reading, the deacon elevates the book and says:
Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, Lord Christ.
Prayers of the People
Brothers and sisters, God has bestowed on us the right to be called children of God and has promised to hear when we call. Therefore, let us lift up our petitions and those of the whole world to Him.
That the Church will boldly give witness to the risen Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That all who preach and minister to God's people will live lives holy and pleasing to God that His name will be glorified even among non-believers.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That those in Government will make wise decisions for the good of all, especially the poor and the powerless.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That as we meditate on God's Word may He enlighten our understanding that we may see what He is saying and then do what He commands.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That just as we recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread, may we also recognize Him in the broken lives of the lonely, the abandoned and the unwanted child.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That the witness of this community to the risen Christ will echo into our neighborhoods, schools and workplaces, inviting others to surrender their lives to God.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Almighty God, we are ever so thankful that we now have peace with You through Your Son Jesus. Hear our prayer and give us the grace to live at peace with one another. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
