Saint Justin, Martyr
O God, who has given your Church wisdom and revealed deep and secret things: Grant that we, like your servant Justin and in union with his prayers, may find your truth an abiding refuge all the days of our lives; through Jesus Christ, who with the Holy Spirit lives and reigns with you, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
O LORD,You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. 6
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. 7
I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. 8
I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. 9
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10
For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. *At the end of the Psalms this is sung or said
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Old Testament 7
The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8
but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9
Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

New Testament 18
1 Corinthians 1:18-25
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19
For it is written: 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.' 20
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22
For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23
but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24
but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Officiant: The Word of the Lord. The People:
Thanks be to God.
Gospel Introduction to the Gospel:
Deacon:The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you. Or And with your spirit
Deacon: May the Lord be on our minds, on our lips, and on our hearts as we hear His Holy Gospel. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint John
People: Glory to You, Lord Christ.
Deacon: We are reading from John's Gospel chapter 12, beginning at verse 44
Then Jesus cried out and said, 'He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45
And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47
And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48
He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him -- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49
For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50
And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.'
After the Gospel reading, the deacon elevates the book and says:
Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, Lord Christ.
