Collect for: Proper 29
Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Old Testament
Daniel 7:9-10

9 I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; 10 A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

Officiant: The Word of the Lord.
The People: Thanks be to God.

Psalm
Psalm 93

1 The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved. 2 Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves. 4 The LORD on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea. 5 Your testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O LORD, forever.

*At the end of the Psalms this is sung or said
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

New Testament
Hebrews 1:1-8

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You'? And again: 'I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son'? 6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: 'Let all the angels of God worship Him.' 7 And of the angels He says: 'Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.' 8 But to the Son He says: 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.

Officiant: The Word of the Lord.
The People: Thanks be to God.

Gospel
John 18:33-37

Introduction to the Gospel:
Deacon:The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you. Or And with your spirit
Deacon: May the Lord be on our minds, on our lips, and on our hearts as we hear His Holy Gospel. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint John.
People: Glory to You, Lord Christ.
Deacon: We are reading from John's Gospel chapter 18, beginning at verse 33.

33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, 'Are You the King of the Jews?' 34 Jesus answered him, 'Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?' 35 Pilate answered, 'Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?' 36 Jesus answered, 'My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.' 37 Pilate therefore said to Him, 'Are You a king then?' Jesus answered, 'You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.'

After the Gospel reading, the deacon elevates the book and says:

Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, Lord Christ.

Brothers and sisters, since God has loved us and washed us from our sins, let us bring our needs and those of the whole world to Him with confidence.

That the Church throughout the world will boldly proclaim Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

That the whole Church will be a reflection of God's heavenly Kingdom on earth.
Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

That God, the Shepherd of all, will gather into unity those separated by Christian religious differences.

That all nations will honor Christ as King, the Lord and giver of Life, and abolish the practices of abortion and euthanasia.
Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

That estranged husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, parents and children will humble themselves and be reconciled one to another just as God, Who was in Christ Jesus, reconciled the world unto Himself.
Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

That the next generation will raise up men and women committed to the service of the Lord and His Church.
Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

Lord in Your mercy,            Hear our prayer.

God of all creation, You raised up Jesus and put all things under His feet.
Hear our prayer and give us the grace to be ready for the Day when He returns in glory.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
