New Testament 9
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10
and crying out with a loud voice, saying, 'Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!' 11
All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12
saying: 'Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.' 13
Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, 'Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?' 14
And I said to him, 'Sir, you know.' So he said to me, 'These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15
Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16
They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17
for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.' Officiant: The Word of the Lord. The People:
Thanks be to God.
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2
My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3
Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. 4
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. 5
They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. 6
This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 7
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. 8
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. 10
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. 11
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12
Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13
Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14
Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 15
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20
He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. 21
Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. 22
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. *At the end of the Psalms this is sung or said
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
New Testament 15
Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16
do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20
which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21
far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Officiant: The Word of the Lord. The People:
Thanks be to God.
Gospel Introduction to the Gospel:
Deacon:The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you. Or And with your spirit
Deacon: May the Lord be on our minds, on our lips, and on our hearts as we hear His Holy Gospel. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew
People: Glory to You, Lord Christ.
Deacon: We are reading from Matthew's Gospel chapter 5, beginning at verse 1
And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2
Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3
Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7
Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9
Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
After the Gospel reading, the deacon can elevate the book and says:
Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord.
